On the 12th of May 2016 the NSW State Government announced the mergers of 19 Councils across the State. These Council mergers seek to improve efficiencies by streamlining administration and delivering cost savings to the communities. The Council mergers also seek to make it easier to implement infrastructure requirements that are essential to the growing populations.

So far there are 19 new merged Councils in NSW with a further 12 proposals being considered.  The Council mergers are listed below:

The NSW State Government will be conducting a review in 4 years’ time to evaluate the merged Council’s progress.
