The Evolution Charity Cup was held on Friday the 6th of March at Dixon Park Beach in conjunction with Surfest. The event was run by the Mark Hughes Foundation to help raise money for brain cancer research, heighten awareness, and support brain cancer patients and their families.

The corporate tag-team style surfing competition included 17-teams of four surfers from local Newcastle businesses. Our team was made up of Joe Myson, Ben Miller, Peter McCallum and Nick Whitton.

The Evolution Charity Cup provided a great opportunity for our team to compete against some pro-surfers, network with the other local businesses, and most importantly be part of the team effort of fundraising. With the help of our supporters, we raised over $1,700 to go towards the Foundation.

We would like to congratulate the Lake Macquarie City Council Lifeguards for defending their title and winning the competition again this year, and to KCE for taking out the fundraising challenge.

We would also like to thank everyone who donated to this worthy cause, as each donation goes a long way in helping to support those affected by brain cancer.

We are proud to be a supporter of the Mark Hughes Foundation and of all the other causes we support. You can find out more about these on our Making a Difference page.
