The Games were held in Penguin, Tasmania from the 23rd-26th of October. She won the gold medal in the 90+ age group for the 1500m, 3000m and 5km race walking events. Heather broke her existing world record for the 3000m, clocking a time of 24 minutes and 56 seconds.  She also broke the pre-existing world record in the 5km event, with a time of 42 minutes.

Due to Heather Lee’s remarkable achievements, she has been selected to be a torch bearer for the Commonwealth Games in 2018. Heather was chosen to walk the Queen’s Baton during the Penrith leg of the relay, and is thrilled about this opportunity, naming it one of her biggest successes to date.

We would also like to acknowledge her participation in her 15th Relay for Life on the 9-10th of September. In memory of her late husband, Heather became involved in the Relay for Life in 2002 and to date has raised over $24, 000 for cancer research. In 2014, Heather received the Order of Australia medal for her dedication to the Relay for Life and service to the Masters Games.

Heather Lee will be celebrating her 91st birthday this November, and is looking forward to her upcoming training and events. Barker Ryan Stewart is incredibly proud of Heather’s achievements and successes, and would like to wish her all the best for her future endeavours. You can keep up to date with Heather through her Facebook page.

We are proud to be a supporter of Heather Lee and also of the other causes we support. You can find out more about these on the BRS “Making a Difference” page.
